The goal of the NNLM is to advance the progress of medicine and improve public health by providing U.S. health professionals with equal access to biomedical information and improving individuals' access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health.
The Health Sciences and Human Services Library at the University of Maryland, Baltimore serves as the Regional Medical Library (RML) for Region 1, which provides programs, services, and dedicated support for NNLM Members in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Help Spread Access to Health Information and Data in Your Community
Region 1 is pleased to announce new funding opportunities for Year 2 (May 1, 2022 - April 30, 2023) of our cooperative agreement with the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Projects include:
Health Information Outreach ($20,000/award) Provide support that improves health information literacy and increases the ability to find and use health information; or improves health professionals' access to, awareness of, and skills for locating high-quality biomedical and health information.
TechQuity ($25,000/award) Delivers technology improvement and health and digital equity to underserved communities impacted by the digital divide via technology funding and online resource training.
Data Science and Services ($25,000/award) Stimulates innovations in biomedical knowledge or data science, information, or research services
Professional Development ($2,000/award) Strengthens the professional knowledge and experience of network members in data science or health information access
