This class is intended to cover the fundamentals of understanding genetics specifically the Central Dogma of Molecular Biology and is geared toward medical, hospital, and academic librarians, but everyone is welcome. This is an online, asynchronous class.
Objectives
Upon completion of this class, students will be able to:
- Develop an introductory understanding of key terms, concepts, and applications of human genetics
- Identify and describe the parts of the “central dogma of molecular biology” (i.e. DNA, transcription (i.e. mRNA), and translation (i.e. protein)
- Explain the anatomy of a “gene”
